Raising Awareness about Mitochondrial Disease

I was on facebook this morning when a link a friend posted caught my eye. It was a link to a blog post about raising awareness for Mitochondrial Disease. I visited this post and just knew I had to go along.

You see, Delaney is 14 years old. Her little brother Grant, a twin, has Mitochondrial Disease. She created a Facebook page called Wish GRANTed to raise awareness for him. She has set a goal to get 10,000 likes in one week. Here’s an excerpt from the home page on Facebook:

Every 30 minutes a child is born that will develop Mitochondrial Disease by age 10, and as of now, there is no cure for them. The only hope for a cure is through research and funding, which starts with awareness.  My goal is to make 10,000 people aware of Mito in one week.  Please help me reach that goal by not only liking this page by clicking the like button at the top of this page, but post something on your wall sending your friends to this page as well.”

It only takes a few minutes to click like, and share. Facebook makes it so easy for you. Won’t you help?

  1. Hey Stephanie. I liked the facebook page. It always breaks my heart to read about little kids having to deal with health issues. I thought his sister did a great job explaining the medical condition. Thanks for getting this out there for people to learn about.
